Women Empowerment

Consortiums

Forming of consortiums has been part of the value chain and collectivisation strategy that Kudumbashree Mission adopted after the micro enterprise survey of 2006. Consortiums are collectives of enterprises in specific business categories. The institutional structure involves democratic representation of enterprise groups working in various parts of the State. The rationale for consortiums is to generate economies of scale.

Kudumbashree has taken up the initiative to form three consortiums already, which are in different stages of evolution.

AmruthamNutrimix Consortium

It is the consortium of 393 Amruthamnutrimix micro enterprises across the State producing the food supplement suppled through ICDS. There are 14 district consortiums that are federated to a State level consortium.

Unnathi IT Consortium

Unnathi is a State level consortium of the IT and ITES micro enterprises in the Kudumbashree network. Unnathi has a membership of 67 micro enterprises. The consortium has a management team with a General Manager and Marketing Manager.

Kadambari Garments Consortium

A number of new generation garments units known as mini apparel parks have come up as a result of Kudumbashree’s efforts in facilitating technology-improvement and skill development in garments and tailoring sector. Kadambari (Kudumbashree Apparel Design and Manufacturing Business Alliance for Revival and Incubation) is a consortium of these new generation garments units. Kadambari has a management team consisting of a General Manager, a Marketing Manager, and five Cluster Managers.
