The Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojajana (PMAY) is a comprehensive mission launched by the Central Government in compliance with the objective of providing “Housing for All by 2022”. Kudumbashree has been selected as the nodal agency for the implementation of PMAY for providing housing to the urban poor. The scheme seeks to address the housing requirement of urban poor including slum dwellers wherein every family should have a pucca house with water connection, toilet facilities, 24x7 electricity supply and access. The HFA mission will be implemented in the urban area during the period from 2015-2022, under which the Mission will provide central assistance to implementing agencies like Kudumbashree through States and UTs for providing houses to all eligible families/beneficiaries. Mission will be implemented as a Centrally Sponsored Scheme (CSS) except for credit linked subsidy which will be implemented as a Central Sector Scheme. State/UT Government and Implementing Agencies would be encouraged to form associations of beneficiaries under the scheme to take care of maintenance of houses being built under the mission. As on 28th February 2017, 41 projects and 19,995 beneficiaries have been approved under PMAY across 14 districts in Kerala.
