The NRLP- Elderly Inclusion Program was launched in the year 2015-16 with a view to address the issues concerning the increasingly ageing population of Kerala. The main points of focus of the Elderly Inclusion Program are in mobilising the elderly into NHGs, mapping vulnerabilities through participatory processes, ensuring livelihood measures for active and assisted elders, providing social and psychological support for the elderly and creating a system for protecting the rights of elder at the panchayat level. The project was initially launched as a pilot intervention in two blocks: Mulamthuruthy Block in Ernakulam and Chavara Block in Kollam, covering five villages. Six more villages were later included under the program. So far, 562 ENHGs have been formed covering 10096 families.
