Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana (DDU-GKY), the skill training and placement program of the Ministry of Rural Development (MoRD) has been providing high quality skill training opportunities to the rural poor and is also establishing a larger ecosystem that will support trained candidates to secure better futures. The program lays emphasis on sustainable employment through incentives put in place to ensure post-placement tracking, retention and career progression. Kudumbashree which has been implementing the program in the state has initiated trade-related Skill Development and Placement Programme to build skills of 50,120 poor rural youth across the state as well as ensuring suitable employment to at least 35,882 youths. It has deployed a dedicated full-time team for DDU-GKY in the state, district and sub district levels. The interventions of the project is executed with the help of Project Implementing Agencies (PIA) and the targeted beneficiaries should be between 15 and 35 years of age. Key activities under the program include skill gap assessment, awareness and publicity campaign for mobilising and selecting beneficiaries, capacity building of stakeholders, selection of training partners, skill training, certification and placement services, monitoring & evaluation and post placement support services.
