Snehita, the gender help-desk launched by Kudumbashree, is an initiative to provide help and support to women and children in distress, for a short duration of time. Snehita facilitates access to services of other institutional agencies for the survivors to address their problems. The help-desk works on the principle of convergence and actively collaborates with registered service providers in the state. The help-desk was started in three districts: Malappuram, Ernakulam and Thiruvananthapuram. As part of the anti-human trafficking programme which was financially supported by the NRLM, gender help-desks were initiated in three more districts - Idukki, Palakkad and Wayanad.
Till 31st March, 2017, a total of 7205 survivors approached Snehita for help and around 1505 women and children were provided with shelter services.
